Mike Jones is the sort of neighbour - and contractor - everyone wants.
When bushfires broke out in the Wandoan region, where Mike and his team were working, Mike quickly took stock of the situation.  Mike's team stopped work and used their equipment to fight the fires, stopping the flames from reaching nearby landholders and QGC well sites and saving valuable pasture.  For his selfless efforts and quick response, Mike received a letter of thanks from Wandoan landholders and the Noonga, Sollow and Woleebee Rural Fire Brigades.
"It is gratifying to all of us that we have people like you and your business in our district who are prepared to give their time and equipment to assist us in such times" it said.
As a contractor, Mike participates in and leads HSSE sessions at the QGC Well Engineering Town Halls and has achieved more than 1, 000 days without injury or significant incident.  Last month he again dropped work to grade fire breaks, saving thousands of acres and winning more praise.

Mike Jones Earthmoving was recognized for this outstanding effort by Catherine Tanna, QGC General Manager in QGC's HSSE Newsletter number 31
